Frequently asked questions
How do I prepare for a hearing test?
You only need to come with clean ears. The test does not hurt and is not uncomfortable.
Do I need any preparation before a tympanometry?
In general, tympanometry is a quick, simple test that does not require any special preparation.
Before doing it, we examine the ear to make sure the conditions are right to obtain useful results. Tympanometry provides information about how the middle ear is working.
It is often complemented with audiometry for a more complete hearing evaluation.
If you have a blocked-ear feeling, hearing problems or recurring ear discomfort, an evaluation can help us identify what is going on.
For vertigo tests, how many days before should I stop my medications?
Do not stop any medication on your own. Preparation depends on the type of test to be done and on the medications you are taking.
Some medications can change how the balance system responds and affect certain tests, but stopping them is not appropriate for every patient.
When you schedule your test, we will tell you specifically which medications you can continue and which ones should be stopped temporarily, if needed.
That way we get more reliable results without putting your treatment at risk.
Does the hearing test hurt or feel uncomfortable?
It does not hurt and it is not uncomfortable.
How do I know if I need a hearing aid?
An audiometry and an evaluation with the specialist are needed.
